Himalayas in Sanskrit means "the abode of the snow". The Himalayan range is the youngest and highest mountain range in the world and stretches across Nepal, China, India, Bhutan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Gleaming like a silver majestic fortress, the Himalayas of Nepal boasts of having eight of the world's highest fourteen peaks over 8000m, including the highest of them all, Mt. Nepal can be divided into three region:-
1.Himalayan region

2.Mountain region or the middle hills, and

3. Terai region.
The Himalayan region stretches along the northern part of Nepal. It lies at an elevation of about 4000 m and above. Some of the highest peaks like Everest, Kanchanjunga, Lhotse etc lie in this region. The mountain region rises to an altitude of 1000 to 4000m. This region accounts for about 64% of total land area. Prominent ranges in this region include the Mahabharat and Churia ranges. The southernmost region is the Terai. The low-land Terai occupies about 17% of the total land area of the country. These magnificent peaks and wonderful trekking trails attract hordes of trekkers and climbers from all over the globe to Nepal.

Climbing can be done through out the year but later part of spring and September through November are more popular as weather and snow conditions are more stable and predictable.
